His Excellency, Ambassador Kwacha Chisiza, met with Mitsubishi Corporation representatives, including Ms. Miyuki Nomura, Global Head of the EMEA Office (Africa), Mr Mbilinya Michael-Aldo, and Mr Sotaro Ichikawa. The discussion aimed to understand Mitsubishi’s operations and explore opportunities aligned with the Malawi 2063 agenda.

Mitsubishi operates globally in sectors such as environmental energy, metal solutions, mineral resources, urban development, mobility, the food industry, smart-life creation, and power solutions. Mitsubishi has contributed to Malawi’s infrastructure by installing airport control devices at Kamuzu International Airport, collaborating on the Tedzani Power Station with Turkey’s Calik Enerji, and rehabilitating the Kanengo Power Station with JICA assistance. The company constructed the Tedzani IV Hydro Power Station, adding 18 MW of capacity, funded by the Government of Japan.

Mitsubishi also imports sesame from Malawi through MC Agri Alliance and trades in platinum group metals, copper, and bauxite in the mineral sector.
