His Excellency, Ambassador Kwacha Chisiza, attended a Trade and Investments Committee (TRINVEC) meeting with Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) governor.
The meeting was to discuss JBIC’s role in facilitating Japanese investments in Africa. JBIC provides semi-concessional loans for commercial projects, but challenges like ambiguous legal frameworks, inadequate infrastructure, security concerns and social instability hinder investment. Despite these, JBIC recognizes Africa’s potential in natural resources, infrastructure development, services, agriculture, manufacturing, electric vehicles, and smart agriculture.
The importance of ongoing collaboration to enhance the economic partnership between Japan and Africa was highlighted.
