His Excellency, Ambassador Kwacha Chisiza, attended a round table “Can J-tech4ed Transform the Education System in Africa?” hosted by the Association of African Economic and Development (AFRECO) and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), focusing on the potential of technological advancements in reshaping education.

The event highlighted 5.4 billion USD in funding pledged by Japan that will initially target four African countries, including Malawi, for technology-enhanced education systems.

The digital divide, limited infrastructure, funding constraints, capacity gaps, policy barriers, and content quality are major challenges in African countries. COVID-19 has exacerbated these issues. Japan and African countries are forming strategic partnerships to leverage technology for educational advancements, investing in infrastructure, promoting policy recommendations, and establishing a network of stakeholders.

Malawi 2063 aims to achieve sustainable development through a well-educated and skilled population. Integrating technology in education aligns with this vision by enhancing learning opportunities.

The distribution of solar tablets in Malawi showcased technology’s potential to enhance learning outcomes and bridge educational gaps, encouraging governments and organizations to prioritise education and empower youth.
