The Minister of Trade and Industry Hon Eng. Vitumbiko Mumba met Dr Hiroshi Kubota who is the executive vice president of the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security JOGMEC, in Tokyo, Japan, on 20 June 2025.
The Malawi team, through its Ministry of Trade and Industry, conducted a significant high-level meeting with the Japan Organisation for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) in Tokyo. Hon. Minister Eng. Vitumbiko A Z. Mumba, presented Malawi’s ambitious ambition to establish itself as a leading destination for mining and renewable energy investment, in accordance with its national development framework: Malawi 2063. The gathering served as both a continuation of the prior assembly held in August 2024, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Honorable Nancy Tembo and JOGMECH President Dr. Shiaku, and a forum for recognising new developments and issuing a call to action.
This meeting symbolized more than diplomacy; it marked a declaration of readiness to collaborate, innovate, and responsibly unlock the country’s immense mineral and energy potential enabling a seamless delivery on the ATMM Strategy—Agriculture, Tourism, Mining, and Manufacturing.
